It is important to note that MI associated with HEC is fundamentally different from MI caused by atherosclerosis in pathogenesis, diagnosis, and treatment. This paradigm shift allows us to take a fresh look at the diagnosis of cardiovascular diseases and suggests targeted treatment strategies for non-atherosclerotic MI. The scientists summarized current knowledge about MI associated with HEC, with an emphasis on its unique epidemiology, pathophysiology, evidence-based diagnostic criteria, and specific treatment methods, and discussed priorities for future research to advance clinical research.
